Why 2026 Is Essential to Bring a Deeper Human Touch to Your Marketing
This is a year I am exploring more ways we can nurture genuine, authentic connections in the digital world.
As I reflect on where the world of marketing is headed, I can’t help but feel like 2026 is a pivotal year. It’s not just about new tools, trends, or shiny strategies; there’s something deeper happening.
The Call for More Humanity in Marketing
People are tired of feeling like just another data point. We’re all craving more connection, more heart, and more humanity.
As someone who lives and breathes marketing, I feel a deep responsibility to lean into that.
And honestly, elevating connection isn’t just a marketing strategy—it feels like an act of rebellion against the division that has seeped into so much of our world.
Moving Beyond Metrics and Polished Perfection
The world has been through so much in recent years. It’s left a collective ache for trust and authenticity. I see it everywhere—people want to know the brands they support see them.
Not just in a “we understand your pain points” kind of way, but in a way that says, “We see you. We care.”
What does that look like? For me, it’s about showing up authentically—even when it’s messy. It means letting go of the urge to perfect every post or email and instead asking:
“How can I make this feel real? How can I make someone feel seen?”
Sometimes that means sharing vulnerable stories. Other times, it means starting real conversations without fearing how they’ll be received. Most often, it simply means taking time to listen.
The Problem with Overly Polished Aesthetics
One place I see disconnection is in the overly polished aesthetics on social media.
Don’t get me wrong—I absolutely love beautiful, creative graphics. I’ve been an artist for decades and adore design. They’re inspiring, and they have their place.
But somewhere along the way, it feels like perfectionism took the lead. In chasing that, we’ve lost the messy, raw, and real parts of ourselves, the parts people actually connect with.
(Confession: my own feed is pretty polished… but my Stories are full of non-brushed hair and early morning thoughts. LOL.)
Choosing People Over Profit
Sometimes I feel like bringing more heart and humanity into marketing is one of the most rebellious things we can do.
Capitalism has trained us to see people as numbers, as targets, as consumers—but they’re so much more than that.
Marketing that focuses on real connection flips the script. It says, “No, I won’t treat people as tools for profit.” Instead, it’s about showing up with care, authenticity, and a genuine desire to serve—not just sell.
Slowing Down to Build Trust
Capitalism prioritizes efficiency and profit over humanity. It pushes us to do more, sell more, scale faster—but where’s the soul in that?
Choosing to slow down and focus on relationships, to build trust and community, feels like a quiet rebellion.
Instead of asking, “How much can I sell?” I’m asking:
- “How can I serve?”
- “Have I made meaningful connections this week?”
That shift feels richer—and far more aligned with the world I want to help build.
Focusing on Feelings Over Algorithms
It’s so easy to get lost in metrics and algorithms. But this year, I’m challenging myself to focus more on relationships than results.
Because at the end of the day, what matters is how people feel when they interact with your brand.
Did they feel inspired? Valued? Seen?
That’s what makes the difference.
Imperfection Is Magnetic
Here’s what I’m reminding myself (and maybe you too):
You don’t have to have it all figured out or look flawless to make an impact.
That imperfection is what draws people in. It reminds them you’re human—just like them. In a world where perfection is the norm, letting yourself be real is one of the most powerful and rebellious things you can do.
