Not because I thought they were 100% accurate, but because they hinted at something bigger: a system. A rhythm. A recognition that the cosmos — like nature — has an order to it.

And nature itself? That was my first teacher. I spent hours in the forest, often alone, singing to trees and watching how everything was connected. The mycelium underfoot, the birds above, the slow rhythm of decay and rebirth. Nothing existed in isolation. Everything was part of a system. My parents and grandparents lived off the land, and though I was the first generation to be raised in an urban setting, I spent summers working the land with them. That time taught me the ways of balance and reciprocity, and how caring for ecosystems means honouring both what is given and what is taken.

Fast forward to now: that’s what I do as a marketer. I build systems.
